has anyone ever been convicted or arrested for Playing Poker Online anywhere in the u.s. on sites such as poker superstars or fulltilt. or is it virtually impossible for the government to detect such activity without copying your hard drive or something
If the government wants to punish players for playing online poker, they will find and arrest 1,000,000 players in minutes because all your traffic data is stored in your ISP’s databases, including your, Fulltilt, Stars IPs etc.
The thing is playing poker is fully legit on the player’s side, providing your state does not prohibit it specifically in State’s laws. It’s illegal to accept money for gambling in mystic ‘unlawful’ financial transactions. Nobody knows which transactions are lawful and which are not, so banks try to block all suspicious money transfers. However, there are various e-payment solutions, ECO card, etc.
Moreover, the anti-online-gambling law concerns poker rooms & online casinos registered in USA. I don’t know any such a site with U.S. jurisdiction…
