Each week of the college football season, I make at least one college football parlay bet. There’s something magical about watching many games at once and having action riding on them all. If you’re new to betting on NCAA college football, here is some information that will help you out.
Let’s start out by talking about the difference between sportsbooks when a game falls on the number. Some sportsbooks push ties, which means you get your parlay card reduced to the next number. So imagine you have a 5-team college football parlay going and the Ohio State Buckeyes (-3) win by 3. Since it’s a tie, the card would be reduced to the next level. If you’re playing a “ties win” card, you’d win the bet.
College football parlay cards can have both sides and totals on them. A side is when you pick sides, like the Michigan Wolverines. And the total is when you bet the under or over on the total number of points scored for both teams.
As you might expect, you can increase your payout by adding more teams. The risk increases too. While most sportsbooks will often have about the same payouts, some do offer special payout amounts.
Getting paid on college parlays is fun. Here are some common payout amounts:
3-team parlay pays 6-1
4-team parlay pays 11-1
5-team parlay pays 20-1
Let’s move on.
There’s also teasers that are somewhat popular with sportsbettors. They are easier to win, but pay much less. Many like betting teasers because the lines are more favorable for sports bettors. As an example, you might see the Washington Huskies as a 14 point dog on the real line and a 21 point dog on a teaser. As you can see, it’s much easier to win these bets.
Do you know what the best college football parlay bet to make is? There is an “optimal” bet and many sports bettors don’t realize it. Whether you’re wagering on teasers, half-point cards or straight parlays, you’ve got to know your stuff to come out ahead.
